Stabilizers are used to make your fabric stronger and more stable when you are embroidering your project or are employing some kind of decorative stitching technique. It is designed to support and even replace fabric that is under the stress of dense stitching or multi-directional stitching. There are four basic stabilizers to choose from, wash away stabilizers, tear-away stabilizers, cut-away stabilizers and heat-away stabilizers.

The reason for using backing is to stabilize the design you are sewing on the garment. This is the foundation of your design and we all know if we don't have a good foundation in any walk of life or project, the whole thing will come out wrong. If you build a skyscraper, you better have a good foundation, this also applies to a large stitch count. The more stitches your design has, the more backing you will need. If you only have a light weight backing, use several layers of backing . Four is not too many. You will have to use some common sense judgment on this. Sometimes multiple layers of backing is better than using one layer of a heavier backing.

 Fusible web--Heat n' Bond Lite is basically an iron-on adhesive with a release paper backing. Use an iron to apply the product to a surface remove the release paper backing and iron onto a project. Its great for applique projects

Craft Fuse -great for giving bags Structure  and making them stand up on their own.

 Interfacing/Stabilizer  gives us the flexibility to use most any fabric we want in our bags. It supports and strengthens fabric and it can even make fabric stand up stiff and straight (great for when we want our bags to stand up by themselves).  You'll soon notice that effective bag making is very dependent on picking the appropriate interfacing for the fabric that you want to use.

Polyester Boning is super useful in bag making... Sew this stuff into the seam allowance of your bag sides, or bag openings to prevent them from falling in on themselves.  I sewed this stuff into the sides and top seams of a messenger bag to form a sort of flexi - skeleton within the bag to give the bag a boxy structure.... Have used it in Carolina Bag - and will use it in Boho .

This unique stabilizer combines the convenience of a pressure sensitive adhesive with the flexibility of a wash-away stabilizer. *AquaMesh Plus is the same great product as AquaMesh but is backed with a pressure sensitive adhesive. It washes away with water. Use it to embroider on items that cannot be hooped. AquaMesh Plus is great for sheer, slippery fabrics like chiffon, or for quilts and quilting designs. It is also great for projects that require multihooping. 		A great stabilizer for sewing on sheer, lightweight, and fine fabrics when all traces of stabilizer must be removed from the fabrics.  12" wide x 8yds long.

BadgeMaster is three times the weight of AquaFilm backing. It is used for stand-alone lace or for embroidered items in which only the thread should remain. BadgeMaster can be washed away under running water or the item can be placed in a sink of warm water to soak. Many times, BadgeMaster is not washed out completely in order to give a stiff effect to stand-alone laces. If a softer result in desired, allow the item to soak for a longer period. BadgeMaster also makes a great backing stabilizer for projects in which there can be no show-through.

    Once the piece is krinkled, cut it to size and insert into a pillow, garment, quilt, or home dec item just as you would any normal piece of fabric.
