A new product for fusible or raw edge applique
Applique Fuse Mat 18in x 30" NEW LARGER SIZE! from Sew-Perfect
Perfect for assembling laser cut shapes.
What It Is and Why We Love It:
Since the Appli-Fuse mat can withstand temperatures up to 500 degrees F. (260 degrees C.), it is the perfect working surface whenever using a glue gun.
Any globs of glue will flake off easily and protect the table underneath.
Applique Fuse Mat is an appliqué pressing sheet with a difference.
Actually, with several differences:
- 1/ Made of industrial-grade silicone, it's constructed around a fiberglass screening which creates tiny dimples in the surface;
- 2/ It's transparent, allowing full visibility of placement lines and/or fabric underneath the mat;
- 3/ It can take punishing heat and resists all kinds of products like paint, hot glue, etc;
4/ It's tacky (in a good way) to keep your fabrics and patterns in place;
- 5/ It's fully washable.
All you do is place your applique placement guide underneath your applique pressing sheet and you are ready to go. I like to use a light box with my pressing sheet, too, so it is easier to see the placement guide.
Applique Fuse Mat is used in the same way as a traditional mat - by putting it on
top of your placed applique ready for fusing - but this Fuse a Mat's
transparency allows you to see the applique pieces underneath so you
correct anything that is out of place.
the no-stick, no-slide, no-mess appliqué mat that makes quilting easy
An appliqué mat like no other you’ve used before - No fusible will ever stick to it, or your iron again…
Iron directly onto it and peel your pieces off with fusible stuck to your fabric ONLY!
Safe to use with a hot glue gun or heat gun
Fuse directly on to Applique Fuse Mat surface
Nothing sticks to a Applique Fuse Mat
Slightly tacky so as your pieces stay in place without slipping
Applique Fuse Mat does not move on the tabletop surface
The reason it works so well is most fusible are heat activated glues – which melt and spread just like cheese when your iron applies the heat. This usually makes a huge mess – but not anymore! The Applique Fuse Mats proprietary fiberglass grid inside the mat stops any leakage. Additionally special dimples trap all the air underneath causing the fusible to suck down onto the fabric and go nowhere else!
So, there is no need to protect your iron, mat or ironing board from annoying glue leakage.
As a fellow quilter let me tell you just how frustrated I was at my iron and ironing board being covered in messy fusible that had leaked off my backing paper or my old applique mat!
