Buyers Guide and Customers Information

Why should I useprewound bobbins when I can wind my own?
Good prewound bobbins are wound by high tech machines which provide a smooth, uniform wind. The result is much more thread on the bobbin than a self-woundbobbin. Whether you're in the middle of an embroidery design or a quilting orsewing project, having to stop to change the bobbin is always an inconvenience.

Should I tear off thecardboard sides?
If the bobbin fit is too snug to accommodate free rotation, take off thecardboard sides. This will not affect the function of the bobbin. If yourmachine has an automatic bobbin sensor, leaving on the cardboard sides willmake the sensor think the bobbin is always full and will therefore not providea low bobbin warning. The solution is to either tear off the cardboard sidesand use the sensor or to leave the sides on and sew until the bobbin threadruns out.

Is there a differencebetween plastic sided and cardboard sided bobbins?
Either type is fine. Plastic bobbins are reusable; cardboard bobbins aredisposable. Because the plastic-sided bobbins are so smooth, they may continueto spin even after your machine stops and cause backlash. Some machines seem towork better with the cardboard-sided bobbins because the cardboard sidesprovide more friction and backlash is usually not a problem.

Filament poly. This thread has a shiny appearance and is virtually lint free.It can be thin and lightweight, yet strong. Embroiderers love this thread sinceit creates a soft backing, even on dense designs. Many machine quilters likeusing a filament poly thread in the bobbin. Due to it's slick surface, it workswell with metallic threads and heavy cotton threads. The slickness of thefilament poly thread does not snag or grab the top thread. If you've hadtrouble using metallics or heavy cotton threads, a slick bobbin thread maysolve some problems.

Cotton. Quilters love it. It keeps the fiber contentconsistent with the fabric, batting, and top thread. For embroidery, it is OK,but on dense fill designs, cotton bobbin thread will result in a stiff design.Beware that lower quality cottons produce more lint which in turn requires morefrequent machine cleaning. Choose a good quality bobbin thread.

We have had so many request for these bobbins. Most quilters are asking for the Filament Polyester, which is a big change.

We also have Superior Super Bob prewound Bobbinsthese are cotton.

Our stock will arrive soon and we are takingorders on prewound bobbins at these great prices.

Please let us know if you want other colors. We will provide what is requested!
